COMMUNITY PARKS INITIATIVE PLAYGROUNDS
 

As part of the Mayor’s Community Parks Initiative, Nancy Owens Studio was selected to design the reconstruction of Carmansville Playground in Harlem, Grassmere Playground in Far Rockaway, Queens, Newport Playground and Bergen Beach Playground in Brooklyn. The Community Parks Initiative is a program led by NYC Parks & Recreation to transform smaller neighborhood parks that have received less than $250,000 in capital investments in the last 20 years. Ideas gathered from community input meetings help the design team to develop improvements that meet the needs of the diverse constituencies, introduce universal play values and mitigate stormwater management issues.
