ST. JAMES PARK

St. James Park is a well-used, twelve-acre, community park in the Bronx which features a classically-inspired, landscaped mall and lawn oval. Nancy Owens Studio designed a restoration of the 1935 park which included a new playground, buffered from the elevated subway above with a planted screen. An imaginative water play area simulated a stream running past boulders and around a raised island, which is a draw for neighborhood children during the summer months.
